Seven-day AI productivity challenge with small daily milestones

CLP EVOLUTION LAB · LEARN BY DOING

Seven-Day AI Productivity Challenge

Choose one low-risk, repeatable task and test whether AI assistance makes it better. This is a self-guided challenge; no registration is required. Keep sensitive data out of unapproved tools and verify outputs before using them.

Choose your challenge

Pick a task that happens regularly and has an easy-to-check result, such as structuring public research, outlining a presentation, organising non-sensitive notes, or drafting a checklist. Avoid high-stakes decisions and tasks involving confidential or personal data.

Your seven-day path

  1. Day 1 — Observe: complete the task as usual. Record time, quality, and common friction points.
  2. Day 2 — Define: describe the task, inputs, constraints, and what a good output must include.
  3. Day 3 — Assist: ask an AI tool to help with one bounded step. Review the output carefully.
  4. Day 4 — Improve: refine the prompt and request a clearer format or alternatives.
  5. Day 5 — Verify: check facts, calculations, citations, omissions, and any assumptions relevant to the task.
  6. Day 6 — Repeat: run the improved workflow on a second example and note what changes.
  7. Day 7 — Reflect: compare the results with your baseline and decide whether to keep, change, or stop using the workflow.

Use a simple scorecard

Rate each trial from 1–5 for usefulness and output quality. Also record minutes spent, corrections required, and any errors you caught. Include the time spent checking and rewriting—the apparent time saved is not the whole story.

Safety and quality guardrails

What counts as success?

Success could mean less time, clearer output, fewer repetitive steps, or better consistency. It is also a useful result to discover that AI does not help with this task. Keep only the workflow that demonstrates value and remains safe.

Common questions

Do I need to complete all seven days in a row?

No. Use the sequence at a pace that suits you, and record what you learn at each stage.

Does the challenge require a paid tool?

No specific product is required. Use an AI tool available to you and follow its terms and your organisation’s policies.

What should I share at the end?

Share the task category, your baseline, what changed, what you verified, and whether you would reuse the workflow. Do not share confidential inputs or outputs.
